You may have noticed a new ad popping up on the sidebar of our website. It’s for Crosscourt Threads, a clothing company founded with an athlete’s spirit and a dream to create fashion-forward tennis inspired streetwear and performance wear.
Company founders Emily Fraser and Kristy Borza both grew up playing tennis. They both played in college, Emily at UVA and Kristy at University of Pittsburgh. They are both tennis coaches today. And they were frustrated at the lack of chic off-court clothing options for tennis players. I mean, you don’t always want to run to the grocery store or out to eat wearing a tennis skirt! So, the couple started brainstorming last summer about what they could do to fill that fashion gap, and Crosscourt Threads was born.
“We started talking and saying, ‘What do we want to wear that shows who we are as tennis players?'” Emily told me. They came up with a line of t-shirts, long-sleeve shirts, caps, and pants – all priced in the $25-50 range with additional items and designs coming soon – that are designed, manufactured, and printed in the US. Emily and Kristy tag each item and ship orders themselves, maintaining the highest level of quality control. The two women looked to ’90s fashion for inspiration then wrapped those looks into today’s high-performance fabrics for items that work both on and off the court.
In order to get the CrossCourt Threads brand into the marketplace, Emily and Kristy created a Brand Ambassador Program which only requires a public Instagram account to join. The program runs in 4-month cycles wherein Ambassadors are simply asked to post photos of themselves wearing Crosscourt Threads items on designated CrossFire Days. In exchange, they receive discounts on all products as well as an opportunity to win a variety of prizes throughout the term.
As of now, the product line comes in adult sizes only. However, they have plans to expand the line to include children’s sizes as well as performance wear, so check their website on a regular basis for updates!
I hope you will check out CrossCourt Threads by clicking on their ad in the sidebar and encourage your junior players to apply to the Brand Ambassador Program. As an added bonus, you will receive a 10% discount when you join their email list.
