Day Two

Day Two
Boulder, CO

Boulder, CO

Woke up at the crack of dawn since it IS two hours earlier for us – ugh! After coffee in the room, got dressed and met Momma, Daddy, and Gary in the lobby restaurant for breakfast. We picked up our rental car (Enterprise desk in hotel lobby – very convenient!) then headed over to Boulder to see the University of Colorado campus and the town. The campus is absolutely magnificent – set in the valley, surrounded by the Rockies, and covered with beautiful trees and rough brick buildings with tons of green spaces all around! We did a little shopping in the bookstore, then headed over to Pearl Street to grab lunch and walk around. Turns out there’s an art festival going on – lucky for us! Lots to see and ogle over! We ate sandwiches at Paradise Cafe, a good local chain, then walked it all off in the unseasonable heat. After we had our fill of Pearl Street, we headed back to the car to drive over to the Dushanbe Tea House, an authentic tea house that was brought from China intact and is now open for lunch, afternoon tea, and shopping. Next, we drove about 25 miles down to Red Rocks to see the amphitheatre and rock formations. Though we weren’t allowed into the amphitheatre (there was a concert later that day), one of the security guys showed us where to go so we could hike down a short path and see the amphitheatre from the back. It is really amazing! Note to self: look online to see who will be playing there next time I come to Denver! We got back in the car and headed back to our hotel for a little rest before getting dressed for the wedding. Three limos were waiting outside to take everyone to this beautiful nature preserve for the ceremony and reception. The ceremony was short and very sweet, and the reception was low-key and very enjoyable! Back to the hotel around 10:30pm for a good night’s sleep!
