Day Five: Movie and Makeup

Since it was our last day, we decided to wake up early, grab bagels at Essa-Bagel, and get in more shopping. At Essa-Bagel, my “friend” was there again and remembered me! He gave me a teddy bear and took a picture with me – so cute! Savannah and Morgan were a little freaked out, but I thought it was sweet! After breakfast, we took the subway back down to the Village, but it turns out the stores don’t open until 11am – ugh! So, we walked several blocks over to Jacques Torres’ Chocolate Haven to see the chocolate being made and to have a hot chocolate. We ended up buying a couple of things there before heading back into the Village. We shopped and walked and headed by cab into Nolita after one of the shop owners told us to go there. We were walking along Prince Street when we spotted lots of cops and cameras. Turns out they were filming a new movie called Confession of a Shopaholic starring Isla Fisher, and we walked right into their shot! One of the PA’s asked us to please move so they could re-shoot the scene, so we stood along the street and watched. Isla rode right past us in a cab then walked right past us on the street – so cool! The girls got some good pictures before we continued on our way. Savannah really wanted to get her makeup done, and Morgan really wanted to continue shopping, so we decided to split up and meet back at the hotel in time to get our luggage and go to the airport. Savannah and I walked to the Sephora store on Broadway and had our makeup done by a young woman who is training to become a professional makeup artist – she was really good! We bought almost everything she showed us then hopped in a cab to get to the Museum of Modern Art so Savannah could take a couple of pictures for her World History class. I had read that 16-and-under get in free, so Savannah went inside while I waited for her in the lobby. We both saw a new installation going in, which was very cool! Then, we walked very fast back to our hotel, met up with Michelle and Morgan, got in a car and headed to LaGuardia for our flight home. What a fantastic trip!
