I rarely write about my own tennis activity, so please indulge me today!
My ALTA mixed doubles team got to the playoffs, and today was our first round match. Since we came in 2nd place in our division, we were the “Away” team and had to play in a neighborhood not too far from my old house. Adult league mixed doubles is a tricky animal. Last year, you may remember, I played with my son and had discussed with him the expected protocol in terms of being on court with both a male and female opponent. Not all those who participate in this league abide by those expectations. We are, after all, playing in one of the highest divisions, skill-wise, and everything’s fair in love and war, right?
Today, though, our opponents were incredibly good sports, making the match a fun one even though our team lost. 🙁 It was a pleasure being out on the court on a beautiful, crisp, Saturday afternoon playing the game I love. This is what tennis is supposed to be all about. We’ll get ’em next season!
