All The Sites Seattle, WA |
Seattle, WA
We started the morning with room service then walked down to the water front to see the harbor and Pike Market. It was fun to see the original Starbucks and the other sites, but it felt awfully touristy to me and, being a Sunday, was crowded as all get out! We made our way through the market, found a French bakery to buy some lunch, then ate on a bench facing the water – very pretty!
After lunch, we got our car and drove around a bit until we found ourselves at the Space Needle. We parked and walked over to this amazing public space that also houses the Chihuly exhibit & garden, the EMP, and an incredible kids playground. We had seen the Chihuly exhibit when it came to the Atlanta Botanical Garden years ago, but it was still thrilling to see his works again, especially the ones set in the garden.
By the time we had finished seeing all the sites around the Space Needle, it was time for dinner. We drove to Taylor Oyster House and had a delicious meal of oysters and Dungeness crab along with a yummy cocktail for me and a local beer for Matthew. For dessert, we took our waiter’s suggestion and drove to the Capitol Hill area of town for a couple of slices of pie at the Pie Bar, a locally-owned pie shop/bar. It’s a tiny little space with tons of energy. I definitely recommend checking it out!
