A Day of Natural Beauty Crater Lake National Park, OR |
Crater Lake National Park, OR
We got up early, ate breakfast in the hotel, then headed out for a 90+-minute drive to Crater Lake. Omigosh, what a gorgeous place! We stopped at the visitor center before driving along the rim of the crater, getting a chance to see the lake from many different vantage points. Spectacular!
We then found ourselves on a 2-lane Oregon highway that led us through the Umpqua National Forest. OMG! The scenery was incredible! We happened upon a sign for the Steamboat Inn just in time to stop for a delicious lunch overlooking a beautiful river. Our server told us about a fish preserve just up the road, so, of course, we drove a little out of our way to have a look. We parked our car and hiked down to the water where we sat on some rocks and just took in the beautiful view.
Then we found the main highway and headed into Portland, checked into our hotel, and went out for a delicious dinner (and trivia!) at El Cubo de Cuba followed by yummy ice cream at Salt & Straw.
