Our Third and Final Day of Tennis Atlanta, GA |
Atlanta, GA
I got up early, packed all our stuff, then went across to get bagels and cream cheese for everyone. Of course, when I got back to the apartment, I found they had forgotten to put the cream cheese in my bag, so I had to run back over to get it. After drinking my coffee and eating a hot-out-of-the-oven bagel, I heard the rest of the crew stirring, so I got Morgan up, too. He and I showered, got dressed, said our good-byes to James and Reggie and the girls, took our luggage downstairs to store with the doorman, then headed out to the Tennis Center for our last couple of matches. When we were close, I called Pat, and he met us at the entrance with tickets to get us in. Turns out, he had borrowed the tickets from Nadal’s agent, and they were 5th row seats to Ashe for that day. Morgan wanted to take the tickets and run (!), but we had to give them back, sadly. We quickly made our way over to Court 11 to watch Melanie’s first round match against Timea Babos of Hungary. Melanie finished her off pretty quickly then stuck around to sign autographs and take a picture with Morgan. After a quick bathroom stop, we headed over to Court 13 to watch Ryan’s first round match against Adrien Puget of France. Of course, the whole Harrison clan was there watching, too! Ryan beat him soundly, then also stuck around to sign autographs and take a picture with Morgan. So cool! That was it for us. We stopped at the food court and got a couple of crepes, then headed back to the subway station to head back into the City. Then, we walked to James and Reggie’s apartment to pick up our luggage, caught a cab to Penn Station, took the train to Newark, and got to the airport with about 45 minutes to spare. After searching fruitlessly for a “flat-top” cap for Morgan in the airport, we headed to our gate and boarded the plane. Engine trouble delayed us for about 3 hours, but we finally made it back home around 12:30am. What an amazing weekend!
