Wine Tasting: Day One

Wine Tasting: Day One
Napa, CA

Napa, CA

We started our morning with breakfast at the hotel then drove toward Yountville and St. Helena to visit some wineries. Along the way, we saw a sign at a small winery, Sequoia Grove, that announced they were doing a crushing that day, so we stopped in to have a look and to taste (and buy!) some wine. Neither of us had seen a crushing before – it was fascinating to watch.

We drove into St. Helena, an adorable little town, and walked around with the aim of finding Woodhouse Chocolates as recommended by the Davises the night before. The chocolates were good but See’s still tops my list! We found a really nice men’s shop where I convinced Matthew to buy a beautiful sweater and shirt that were on sale. The salesman told us about another good restaurant in Yountville which we tucked away for later.

Our itinerary had us going to V Sattui Winery next. When we got there, though, it was a tourist madhouse, so we had a quick look around then promptly left to go back to Yountville for lunch. Redwood didn’t disappoint! It was situated in the courtyard of a local hotel and was the perfect spot to eat another yummy pizza.

Dinner that night was at Farmstead at Long Meadow Ranch, a working farm with a beautiful coffee shop, gift shop, and restaurant.
