Paris to Mallorca via Beauvais Majorca, Spain |
Majorca, Spain
Matthew had arranged a car to drive us (and our massive amounts of luggage) 2 hours to the airport in Beauvais to catch a RyanAir flight to Mallorca. Note: DO NOT FLY RYANAIR! We got gouged at the airport for our luggage being a couple of kilos overweight – I’m talking 100 euros gouged – so frustrating! Had we realized they were going to charge us, we would’ve just shipped our non-essentials back home from Paris – I’m sure it would’ve been cheaper and certainly less aggravating.
Once we arrived in Mallorca, we had to figure out how to find the shuttle to the rental car offices (I kept throwing out French phrases instead of Spanish when asking directions!), but we finally got there, picked up our car, and tried to navigate our way to Ca Na Susi. It wasn’t easy! We wound up taking a wrong turn out of the airport and driving through the Palma marina, which was a gorgeous treat! Then, we took another wrong turn and wound up in the village of Esporla, another good mistake – it’s so quaint and beautiful there. We finally made it to our villa where Susi was waiting for us. She helped us unload our stuff then told us we needed to hurry up so we wouldn’t miss the Mallorcan sunset. She sent us into Valdemossa for a snack at Capuccino, then a quick drive through Deia to Na Foradada to watch the sun go down – breath-taking! When we got back to the villa, Susi took us to her favorite tapas restaurant, Quina Creu, in Palma – it was Tapas Night, after all. After stuffing ourselves, we walked around Palma so Susi could point out the relevant sites, including the stunning Cathedral.
