Our First Full Day of Vacay Cartagena, Colombia |
Cartagena, Colombia
Matthew and I both slept over 11 hours – I guess we were a little tired from all the stuff going on in our lives back home! Once we woke up, we headed downstairs for the complimentary breakfast buffet at our hotel. Oh my gosh! What a great spread! Fresh local fruits, traditional Colombian dishes, an omelet bar, a beautiful selection of pastries, incredible coffee, and even Green Detox Juice – the perfect start to the day!
After breakfast, we changed into our bathing suits, slathered on the sunscreen, and claimed our spots by the main pool. As it turns out, from November through February, there is this incredible soft breeze that blows constantly throughout the day and evening, picking up steam as the hours progress. So, even though it was close to 90 degrees outside, the breeze kept us very comfy as we relaxed poolside.
Around 2pm, we decided to order some lunch by the pool It was good but nothing special. Afterward, we headed up to our room to shower then take an Uber into the Old City of Cartagena. Before we left, though, we met Lorena, the hotel concierge, who was absolutely lovely (and spoke great English, thankfully!)! She suggested where to walk around, where to watch the sunset, and where to eat dinner. Her suggestions were perfect!
We walked around the Old City for a couple of hours, admiring the beautiful architecture and shops, before heading to El Baluarte to sit outside, have a drink, and watch the sun go down. It was spectacular! We wound up ordering a few “snacks” to tide us over which wound up being plenty of food in lieu of dinner. Afterward, we arranged an Uber to take us back to the Radisson and, again, crashed pretty early.
