Day Two: Show and Shopping
New York City, NY

New York City, NY

We decided to wake up rather early and head a couple of blocks down the street to Essa-Bagel for breakfast. After coffee and food, we were ready for some shopping, so we walked up 3rd Avenue and hit several shops that were having great sales. Michelle bought a beautiful red evening bag, and the girls each bought a couple of things. It was soon time to head over to the Theatre District for our matinee performance of Spring Awakening. What an incredible show! We had great seats in the Orchestra and were all completely mesmerized by the show. Warning: this is NOT a show for children – full of language and very graphic sexual content! It did, however, spur some very interesting conversations afterward! Once the show was over, we decided to walk down Broadway and do some shopping at the 3-story Forever 21 store on West 34th Street. Michelle and I left the girls there and walked across the street to hit Zara, H&M, and and couple of other stores. The moms were starving at this point, so we ducked into a corner pizza place and ate a couple of slices – yummy! We met the girls at Daffy’s then headed back to the Theatre District for our 7:30 reservation at Spotlight Live, a karaoke bar/restaurant. In the subway station, we came upon a group of break dancers performing – they were awesome! We stood and watched them for about 15 minutes, then took the train to 49th Street and Spotlight. The food and service are mediocre at best (very over-priced!), but the karaoke aspect was incredibly fun! The girls performed Man, I Feel Like A Woman – so cute! After spending a couple of hours at Spotlight, we decided to walk back to our hotel, quite a hike! We all fell into bed and slept great!
