Day 3 July 12, 2007
Paris, France

Paris, France

We woke up at 9:30am to shower and get ready for our Fat Tire bike tour around Paris. The weather was cool and cloudy. Right before we went to bed last night, Matthew realized he had forgotten to pack his diabetes meds – oops! So, first thing this morning he walked to the pharmacy across the street to try to communicate what he needed. The pharmacist spoke some English and, after asking the name of his medication, gave him a 30-day supply for only 2 euros – we couldn’t believe how inexpensive it is in France! Meds now in hand, he walked back across to the bakery next door to get a tarte du fromage for himself and a pain au chocolat for Emma! After walking over to the Eiffel Tower to meet up with our guide (Austin, a college student from UT-Austin) , we all walked over to the Fat Tire office to get our bikes. I still wasn’t feeling well, and Emma was not really comfortable riding the beach cruisers in Paris traffic, so we decided to bag the tour and head back to our apartment to catch up on sleep. Matthew and Emma woke up late-afternoon and walked to the Champs Elysees for the 9:30pm show at Le Lido while I stayed in bed and recouped. The official Matthew & Emma review of the Lido is that it is a must-see show! They raved about the sets and costumes and music, although the food and service were mediocre and unaccomodating. After the show, E & M walked around the Champs Elysees and returned to the apartment well after midnight!
