The Mental Game

Wisdom from US Open Finalist

Traditionally with junior tennis players, there tends to be a lot of focus around technique and movement around the court. In recent years, though, we’ve seen more of a focus around the mental side of the game as well.

US Open Women’s Singles Finalist, Ons Jabeur, spoke very well about knowing herself and trusting herself in matches after her win over Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia in the semifinals:

I found it particularly interesting when Ons spoke about trusting herself even when her instincts were different from her coach’s advice. That’s a tough situation to navigate for many young players (adults as well!), and I think Ons uses her positive attitude and belief in herself so effectively.

Wishing both Ons and Iga Swiatek all the best in tomorrow’s Final!
