Mallorca to Barcelona Barcelona, Spain |
Barcelona, Spain
After one last beautiful morning at Ca Na Susi, it was time to make the most of our remaining few hours in Mallorca, so we drove into Palma to visit the Juan Miro museum. Given that we typically don’t really do museums, it was a big deal for us to squeeze in this one, but we’re both huge fans of Miro so it was kind of a no-brainer! I’m so glad we went – the museum is run by the Miro family foundation and is situated beautifully with views overlooking the city and the harbor. We spent about an hour exploring Miro’s works as well as the sculpture garden and his studio. After, we drove to the mall to the Camper store for Matthew to buy some shoes and then to the Carrefour supermarket to buy some foodstuffs to bring home as gifts. Then, it was time to go back to Susi’s to pack up and head to the Palma airport. Matthew dropped off me and the luggage then made his way to the car rental return (not an easy place to find!). We were flying Vueling Air to Barcelona – a much nice experience than Ryan for sure! Checking in and boarding were a piece of cake. The 40-minute flight went easily, and we soon arrived in Barcelona. The airport is a tourist attraction in and of itself with its modern architecture and shopping options! We took a taxi to our hotel (Hotel Indigo – see http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserRevi ews-g187497-d3356650-r164095920-Hotel_I ndigo_Barcelona_Plaza_Catalunya-Barcelo na_Catalonia.html for my review), got settled in our room, then headed off on foot to Botafumeiro for some paella and other seafood. It was quite a walk down Passeig de Gracia to Gran de Gracia, but I’m so glad we didn’t miss seeing these streets at night! The Gaudi buildings along the way were all lit up and looked absolutely magical! Dinner was good though pricier than we anticipated – no worries, though, we’re on vacation!
