I spent the day on Friday in Montgomery, Alabama, at the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic Tournament, a co-ed collegiate event with a storied past.
Now in its 70th year, somehow this tournament continues to improve, bringing a fantastic college tennis experience to players, coaches, parents, and fans of all ages. Not only do you get to watch some incredible tennis, but the event now offers a FREE Kids Tennis Festival on the 2nd day before matches begin, so participants get some top-notch instruction as well as the opportunity to see what lies ahead for them if they stick with the sport.
If you missed my Facebook Live broadcasts on Friday, the videos are below.
First, my arrival at the Lagoon Park Tennis Center:
Boise State Broncos warming up:
Getting hyped for the match:

Interviews with the Boise State Bronco players:
A little craziness as the singles gets ready to start:
I certainly hope all of you have attended – or are planning to attend – at least one college tennis match over the next few weeks! Division I conference play starts this week, so things are getting serious out there! In Division III, they just completed the ITA National Indoor Men’s Tournament – congratulations to the winner, Emory University, and to the runner-up, Clairmont-Mudd-Scripps! Let’s all continue to do our part to #SaveCollegeTennis!
