Happy New Year and welcome to our first podcast episode of 2018! Please pardon my nasal-y voice in the intro – our holiday travels to Louisiana finally caught up to me!

Patricia Hy-Boulais escaped from Cambodia as a young child and found her passion for tennis shortly thereafter. Patricia made her Grand Slam debut at Wimbledon at 13 and turned pro at 15. At the age of 17 the highlight of her early career was achieving the world ranking of 65 and playing 20 matches in 5 Wimbledon events. Sadly, an ongoing knee injury caused her to retire prematurely. After detouring into a career in web design, Patricia found her way back to the sport working with the youngest players to help them develop basic movement skills.

After having her own children who showed early promise as players themselves, Patricia and her husband, Yves, made several moves, eventually finding themselves on the coaching staff at the Ontario Racquet Club where Yves works as the Director of Tennis.

Coaching  since 1998, Patricia and Yves founded a Tennis Development program for young beginners, nationally ranked players, and professional players in Hilton Head. Their family has now settled in Mississauga, where their children Isabelle and Justin are following in their parents footsteps.

Having lived the joy, the disappointments, and all the mental, physical and emotional struggles of a professional athlete, Patricia brings a wealth of personal experience to her role as coach to high performance junior players. Focusing on hard work, discipline, and good values; her goal is to create a training environment to foster player development for  athletes committed to improving each and every day. I hope you enjoy our conversation and learn as much as I did from this amazing woman and coach!
